We believe in sharing, not gatekeeping. That’s why we’ve created a folder on onX Offroad featuring a growing collection of dispersed camping locations across Virginia. Our goal is to make it easier for everyone to discover and enjoy the beauty of Virginia’s wild spaces.
This resource will continue to expand as we explore more sites (this folder will automatically update as new locations are added). We also invite you to contribute — if you know of any dispersed campsites in Virginia that you’d like to share, send them our way (include GPS location, any photos, and description such as size, cell service, etc.), just email fmcoverland@gmail.com and we’ll add them to the folder, with credit.
For those using other navigation apps, we’ll also be offering a downloadable GPX file on our website, which will be regularly updated as new locations are added.

Carolina-Georgia Run [CGR] Route
This is our onX-offroad shared folder for the “Carolina-Georgia Run”.
It is a 4-day, 3-night ~295-mile route that travels through multiple Wildlife Management Areas (Jocassee, Warwoman, Swallow Creek). Starting in Northwestern South Carolina and into Northeastern Georgia. This route crosses paths with portions of the Smokey Mtn 500, Georgia Traverse, & the SCAR.
We originally created this route back in 2020, we have since then made subtle changes over the years and we just recently ran it again this April 2026 and wanted to share a newly updated route with a new name.
